Benito Sauseda

On July 30, 2013, our precious Lord called one of His angels home. Benito Haso Sauseda passed away at his home in Eddy, Texas surrounded by his loving family. A chapel service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013 at OakCrest Chapel with Daniel Reyna, Ben’s nephew and Pastor Jayme Palady officiating. Burial will follow at Eddy Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 1 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco.

Ben was born in Moody, TX on April 2, 1941 to Cirildo and Teresa Sauseda. He married the love of his life, Enriqueta Reyna on March 25, 1967. They began their life in a small home in Oenaville, TX, and then moved to Eddy, TX in 1968. After working for Stoneham Air Conditioning in Temple, TX, he began Cen-Tex Heat & Air. This was the beginning of many entrepreneurships that Ben began with only a 2nd grade education.

He credited his many successes to our Heavenly Father. One of the main drives in Ben’s life was to serve his community. He demonstrated this by the many organizations he supported but one of his greatest accomplishments was helping start the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Ambulance Association in 1981. His many hours of community service led to him being named Grand Marshall of the 2013 Mayfest in Eddy, TX.

He left his talented mark on several churches within the Bruceville-Eddy and Moody communities. He spent many years as a member and Lay Leader of El Buen Pastor UMC in Moody where he loved to sing and share the word of the Lord as well as help construct what is now their main sanctuary. He then joined Bruceville-Eddy UMC in Eddy, TX, where he enjoyed fellowship, good humor, and great food with fellow members. While many will remember Ben for his huge acts of kindness, Ben enjoyed living a simple life.

Ben’s main loves were his children and grandchildren. He passes on his legacy of having a strong faith, sense of community service and hard work to each of them. He spent many wonderful, memory-filled days around a bar-b-que pit with his family and friends sharing his humor and contagious smile. Some of his favorite pastimes were sharing a meal and scratching lottery tickets with his dear sister-in-law, Hope Reyna Rouse. Ben held a special place in his life and in his heart for Juan Acuña Y El Terror Del Norte, who shared his passion for good Mexican music.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Joe, Cirildo Jr., Willie, and Pete; and four sisters, Ramona Garcia, Antonia Amador, Gloria Contreras, and Maria Soliz.

Survivors include his loving wife, Enriqueta “Miss Henri” Reyna Sauseda, son, Martin Lee Sauseda and loving friend Kim Wickman of Eddy; daughter JoAnne Sauseda Sharp and husband Darrell of Durango. One sister, Jesusa Hernandez of Waco. Five grandchildren, Marcus, Marissa and Marshall Sauseda of Lorena, Elaina and Erica Graybill of Durango. Special family members, Melinda Davila and family, Amelia Vargas and family and the many Little Rascals who attended the family home child care Mr. Ben and Miss Henri owned and operated, Little Rascals Registered Child Care. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces and cousins.

Pallbearers are Marshall Sauseda, Raymond Sauseda, Jr., Benson Soliz, Robert Soliz, Jr., Angelo Vargas and Issac Vargas. Honorary pallbearers are Jessie Sisneroz, Carlos Velasquez, Danny Blair, Omar, Manuel Dominqez, Luciano Gonzalez, Juan Acuña, Eppie Yañez, and Mike Perryman.

A special thank you to Michelle Chinn and the rest of the Providence Hospice staff.
