OBITUARY

Benjamin Alvis Mayo was taken by the angels on November 27, 2003.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Marvin Freeman officiating. Burial will follow at Point Enterprise Cemetery near Mexia.

Alvis was born May 13, 1912 to Wade Amos and Maudie Bailey Mayo in Winkler. Although Alvis was an electrician by trade, his first love was always music. He was a talented musician, and his melodies have resounded in central Texas and beyond for decades.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arvel and Garner Mayo. Alvis leaves behind his beloved wife, "Baby" Ruth; a daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Gayland Kapavik and two grandchildren, Kari Kapavik of Waco and Jared Kapavik of Dallas.

Pallbearers will be T.J. Lewis, Larry Young, Albert Hollingsworth, Dock Grier, Milton Phillips, and Johnny D. Bradshaw.

Memorials can be made to Whitney Hospice of the Heart to whom the family gives many thanks.
