Bettie Kate Mattiza, 79 of Coryell City, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at a Waco hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Lutheran Church, 10801 FM 929,Coryell City with Pastor Kenneth Moerbe officiating under the direction of OakCrest Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at St. John Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gatesville Funeral Home, 2425 East Main.
Bettie Kate was born January 23, 1929 in Midland County to Emmitt Eugene and Bettie Almira (Hale) Dickie. She married the love of her life, Ira "Tex" Mattiza on May 11, 1952 in Gatesville.
Bettie Kate was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church since 1956 and enjoyed many church related activities. She loved to quilt, crochet and sew.
While overseas she enjoyed being involved in the Boy Scouts in the Philippine Islands as well as many years in the Coryell County 4-H.
Bettie Kate was a Godly wife, mother and grandmother affectingly known as Memaw. She loved her family unconditionally and was a wonderful homemaker.
She also devoted many years to the patients at the Rotunda Nursing Home in Gatesville.
Bettie Kate was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Rhabb Dickie; and beloved son, Mickie Mattiza.
Bettie Kate is survived by her loving husband, Ira "Tex" Mattiza of Coryell City; son, Dann Mattiza and wife, Jean of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; daughter, Becky Hicks of Laredo; andchildren, Eric, Michael, Chris and Justin Mattiza, and Marcus and Blair Hicks; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Madie Deavers and husband, Glenn of Comanche County and Dodie Kettler of Gatesville; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Mattiza of Coryell City. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
