Betty Lou Phillips Hill
November 22, 1947 - April 2, 2010
Betty Lou Phillips Hill, 62, died at her residence in Woodway, Texas on April 2, 2010, surrounded by her loving husband and children, and left for her new home in heaven after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel in Waco with Bert Mercer officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 7 from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation and prior to the funeral.
Betty was born November 22, 1947, in Ryan, Oklahoma, to Roy and Maxine (Houchins) Phillips. She met her beloved husband, Ken Hill, while working at Sentry Insurance in Irving, and the two were married October 30,1967.
After moving to Waco in 1979, she worked for Paul Eisen Insurance and later at Naman Howell Smith and Lee Law Firm.
Betty was very active in her children's lives, including as Girl Scout troop leader as well as dedicated room mother and was a champion of their education.
She also used her concern for others in support of the Susan B. Komen Foundation as well as local women's abuse shelters.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and involved in many activities, including as a Sunday School teacher and ladies group member.
Betty had a warm and infectious sense of humor and was a friend to many. She loved the Lord and her family dearly and will be missed by many.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Ken Hill of Woodway; daughters, Melissa Swedoski and husband Thomas of Buna, and Janna Hill of Austin; mother, Maxine Dawson of Grapevine; sister and brother-in-law Tressie and Paul Higgins of Colleyville; brothers-in-law, Jerel and James Hill; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Susan Eskew of Waco.
