Betty Jean Shapland

Betty Jean Shapland, 74, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 22, at St. Louis Catholic Church by Father Justin Nguyen. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, March 21, with the Rosary at 7 p.m. OakCrest Funeral Home.
Betty was born February 25, 1939 in Waco to Joe and Rose (Neckar) Kaluza. She married Richard Shapland on February 8, 1964 in Waco. She enjoyed fishing and playing Bingo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Willie, Rudy, Joe, Frankie (Plujo) and two infant twins; sisters, Willie Mae Langston and Rosie Aide.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Shapland; daughter, Denise Ann Shapland of McGregor; brother, Ray Kaluza and wife Florence of Waco; sisters, Minnie Lee Welch of Waco, Mary Goodspeed of Tucson, Ariz., Frances D’Auria of Spring Lake Heights, N.J. and Agnes Laine of Houston; many nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Angel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Morris and Elton Welch, Bill Langston, and Frank Traplena.
The family expresses special thanks to Bluebonnet Hospice for their care, especially Sandra, and Ray and Florence Kaluza for their support during this time.
