Betty Greer Young, 81, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2005, at a Waco nursing facility.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Wichita Park Cemetery in Wichita, Kansas. Visitation with her family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Betty was born May 25, 1923 in Wichita, the daughter of Orville and Hazel Greer. She served in the Coast Guard during World War II.
She graduated from Wichita State University, and was a social worker for many years. She moved to Waco from Oberlin, Kansas, where she was a leader in church and civic activities.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond "Doc" Young.
Survivors include her son, Doug Young, and his wife, Patricia, of Waco; a daughter, Lisa Reinking of Evergreen, Col.; a sister, Gennie Wilbur, and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the North Texas Alzheimer's Association, 101 Summit Ave., Suite 300, Fort Worth, TX 76102, or Compassion Ministries.
