Bill Apperson, 79, of Waco, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 24, at Old Union Cemetery near Groesbeck.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Bill was born in Mexia to William and Jessie (Simmons) Apperson. He served in the Army. He was married July 20, 1956 in Dallas to Glena Lewis.
After he graduated from Texas Tech University, he returned to Waco to help his father operate Apperson Grocery Store. He later became a nursing home administrator, and worked for local nursing homes. After he retired, he worked at Baylor University as a dorm moderator.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glena; son, Parker Apperson and wife, Teresa of Duncanville; daughter, Sharla Lumpkin and husband Gary; four grandchildren, Chase Apperson, and Joshua, Caleb, and Phillip Lumpkin; and a great-granddaughter, Kamryn Lumpkin.
