BILLIE JOE CASS
Billie Joe Cass, 90, was born on June 18, 1919, to Louie Nathaniel and Sue Alice "Sudie" Cass in Brownwood, TX. He was raised in Mosheim, TX. He died peacefully in Plano TX on January 28, 2010, with his family by his side.
A 1942 graduate of Texas A&M and proud Aggie all his life. Bill immediately entered military service as a Second Lieutenant in the infantry, serving during WWII as commander of Company G 346th Infantry, a part of Patton's 3rd Army.
He was in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded a Bronze Star for meritorious service. Discharged in 1946, Bill was re-called in 1951 and served in Korea until his discharge as Captain in 1953.
Bill enjoyed a 35-year career in Management with the American Red Cross in Texas and Oklahoma. He experienced first-hand the amazing work of the Red Cross, working during Hurricane Carla, many Oklahoma tornadoes, and the Bali volcano disaster in 1963. He felt privileged to be a part of the Red Cross, especially because of the work the Red Cross does with the military.
In August 1941 Bill married the love of his life, Ella "Mae" Weathers. Mae and his love for her and their family were the most important things in his life, and he demonstrated this daily during the 68 years they were blessed to spend together.
After retirement, Bill and Mae moved to Waco, where he continued his enjoyment of golf. He had the good fortune and skill to have 2 holes-in-one in Waco during his 80's. He was an active member of Central Presbyterian Church in Waco, a member of Rotary for 31 years, and always involved in various community projects and affairs.
Bill Cass will be remembered lovingly for his positive attitude and his gratefulness and love for his family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents and a brother Miles, he is survived by his wife Mae; daughters Barbara Sue Cass and Paula Ann Hurst; grandchildren Keeley Hennington and husband Keith, Jennifer Davis, Billy Scott Buford and wife Heather, Patricia White and husband Chris. As well as his nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Myint, Colin White, Cass White, Leah Davis, Paige Hennington, Chloe Buford, Matthew Davis, Lauren Buford and Mia Buford. .

Funeral services will be held at Central Presbyterian Church in Waco on Tuesday, February 2, at 12:00 noon.
