Billie Jean Haake

Long time Waco resident Billie Jean Haake died at the age of 87 in Houston on August 24, 2011 as a result of malignant Lymphoma. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27, at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, Waco, Texas
Billie Jean had been living with her oldest daughter Linda in Houston since 2004 when she closed down her legendary Estate Sale Service and Antique Sales businesses. Billie Jean attended Waco High School, Baylor University, and the Waco College of Business. She was an accomplished bookkeeper and worked for Huck Manufacturing, SMI, and AMA. Billie Jean was also known for her personal photography and as a superior colorist of photographs. Her creativity, love of art and antiques led her to a successful career buying and selling antiques from Dallas to Houston across Texas. She was the owner of the St. Charles Antique Shop on Austin Ave. in downtown Waco and well known for her 30 plus years of Estates Sales in Central Texas. She had a large following of devoted customers and set the bar high with her knowledge and ethical business practices. She will be missed by her loving family, friends and all who knew and loved her.
Billie Jean was preceded by her parents, Lucille and W.R. (Mr. BIll) Johnson; her sister and brother-in-law, Juanita and Jimmy Willis; and her son-in-law Daniel Veselka.
Billie Jean is survived by her daughters, Nancy Haake Veselka, and Linda Crawford Gadberry and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Gary D. Crawford and wife, Christy, Angela Marie Golding and husband, Jonathan, Christian Veselka and wife, Renee, Jason Gadberry and wife, Nico and Scott Gadberry and Shana Haskins; great-grandchildren, Daniel M. Veselka, Ronald J. Veselka, Ian Crawford, Haley Crawford, Justin Hebert, Ty Gadberry, and Keeley Gadberry; and first cousin, Billie Ann Calebrese.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the American Cancer Society.
