Mr. Billy Jack Davis, aged 62, of Lorena, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple, Texas.
Funeral Services will be Friday, August 30, at 1:30 PM in the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel in Waco with Pastor Tommy Popelka officiating. Burial will be in the Waco Memorial Park on Interstate 35 in Waco.
Visitation with the family will be on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the OakCrest Funeral Home on 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Billy was born on August 26, 1940 in Red Oak, Texas to Jackson Sloan Davis and Vera Addie (Nichols) Davis. He was united in marriage to Sandra Lou Davis on November 20, 1965 in Waco, Texas. He was employed by Steakley Chevrolet here in Waco, and Plantation Foods in Waco.
Billy was a Deacon at Spring Valley Baptist Church in Lorena, and served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lou Davis of Lorena; son, Jody Wayne Davis of Lorena; grandson, Dillon Davis of Arlington; brothers, Charles and Gary Davis both of Temple; sisters, Betty Calhoun, Shirley McIver, Pat Davis all of Temple, Carolyn Dye of Troy, and Sandra Michna of Lorena; 4 aunts and 1 uncle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, Adopted sister, Wanda Lancaster of Temple and many friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his father Jackson Sloan Davis on May 30, 1973 and by his mother Vera Addie Nichols Davis on July 9, 1999.
He was gifted with many talents which included musical and poetic abilities. He enriched the lives of everyone he touched.
