Billy G. Peterson, 86, of Robinson, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2015.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, with Rev. Wayne Blackshear officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Billy was born March 16, 1928 near West, Texas to Will and Mary (Copeland) Peterson. He proudly served in the Navy during WWII. Afterwards, he was a Waco police officer, and during the 1953 tornado, he worked around the clock helping people. He later joined the staff of the Waco VA Hospital where he worked over 30 years.

Billy loved his family dearly, and was the caregiver for his mother and siblings. He really liked being on the lake where he enjoyed fishing. He was a sports fan and served as a Little League Coach for several years. He was also proud to be a 32nd degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two grandsons, Michael C. Tindell and William J. Peterson.

Billy leaves his wife of 67 years, Mary Pursley Peterson; children, Billy G. Peterson Jr. and wife Judy, Linda Bone and husband, Glenn, Donna Stone and husband, John Henry, Julie Brinker and husband, Greg, and James “Pete” Peterson and wife, Cindy; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The pallbearers will be Edwin Dworacek, Raymond Vochacek, Aaron Tindell, Adam Brinker, David, Cody, and Cory Peterson.
