Bob Corbitt

Bob L. Corbitt, 82, of Speegleville, died peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Monsignor Mark Deering officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. A visitation with Bob's family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Bob was born July 25, 1928 in Hollis, Oklahoma to C. W. Corbitt and Zula Mae Warren Corbitt. Bob and his wife, Marie, shared the responsibility of owning and operating the CBC Builder's Hardware before retiring to travel and enjoy their farm and home. He was able to fulfill his long wish to stay the rest of his earthly life on the farm that he cared for and loved for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Bonna Lou Shamburger and Ruby Sharp; three brothers, Arthur, V. T. and Carmac Corbitt; and one son-in-law, Al Bryant.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marie; two daughters, Sherry Bryant and Kay McEvers and husband, Darrell. He enjoyed eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by two brothers, Norman Corbitt and wife, Orlean and Ernest Corbitt and wife, Ladine; sister Edith Ardell.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Mitchell, Mike McEvers, Jerry Herbert, Chris Willis, Justin Gutierrez, Zach Mitchell and Kevin Mitchell.

Bob's family wishes to express their appreciation to Providence Hospice and a special thank you to Anna Warrick, Kim Thompson, Merry Wilburn, Martin Critchett, the on call staff, Bobby Mitchell and Misti Mitchell as well as Caresource and the Waco Lung Association.

The family suggests that in lieu of floral arrangements, memorial donations may be made to Providence Hospice.
