Bonnie Lee Murehead, 73, of Waco, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Providence Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Chaplain Irenka Vlajnic officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation with his family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Mr. Murehead was born August 30, 1937 in Mercedes to Bonnie C. and Myrtle Caldonia Rinehart Murehead. He spent the younger years of his life in Aransas Pass where he became an avid fisherman and hunter. Later in life, he continued his love of fishing on the Bosque River catching large catfish for the annual family fish fry. Prior to Bonnie's retirement, he was a tile setter for Gene Ives Acoustics and a welder for Wales Industries.
Bonnie met Beverly Rozell and knew immediately she was his "soul mate". They married August 9, 1961 and where married forty one years until Beverly's death in December 2002.
He is survived by his son, Perry Lee Murehead of Waco; his daughter, Margaret Elaine Dickson and husband, Harry of Waco. He is also survived by Cindy Murehead, the mother of two of his grandchildren, Allen and Terry Murehead and wife, Kim all of Waco; grandson, Scott Howard of Palestine; granddaughter, Kayla Howard of Speegleville and Tyler Dickson of Waco; four great grandchildren; three sister-in- laws, Peggy Williamson and husband, John of Waco, Elaine Wright of Miles and Verna Cross and husband, Monty; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Monty Cross, Charles "Bubba" Murehead, Troy Keating, Jeri Shannon, Jim "Rocky" Wright and Jesus "Chuy" Salazar.
