Bonnie Ruth Troutt
August 18, 1932 – May 4, 2015
Bonnie Ruth Troutt, 82, died at her residence following a lengthy illness. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2015, with burial to follow at Gentry’s Mill Cemetery near Hamilton, Texas. Services will be by Dr. Joe Bailey, Jr., assisted by Dr. Derek Dodson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Oak Crest Funeral Home.
Born August 18, 1932, in Pasche, Texas, Ruth was the fourth of six children born to Willie Carroll Stephens and Frances Turner Stephens. Ruth graduated from Pottsville High School in 1948. She was married to Gerald Jowers from 1949 until 1972. She then married Curtis Troutt in 1980.
She worked at Central Freight Lines for 33 years before retiring. She was a long time member of Speegleville Baptist Church. Ruth was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and a grandson, Stephen Griffith.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Troutt, daughters, Sharon Whitley, Melba Waldrop and husband, Mike, Jackie Hawkins and husband, Mel; one son, Gary Jowers and wife, Tracy; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two step-children, Larry Don Troutt and Twila Stark; oldest sister, Hilda Tatum, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are her nephews, Tim Tatum, Herbert Tatum, Larry Tatum, Rick Tatum, and Wesley Wayne Stephens; her longtime neighbor and friend, Greyson Foddrell, and her special friend, Larry Wilson.
