Brian M. Erkfitz, of Waco, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the age of 47. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Western Heights Baptist Church, 6301 Bosque Boulevard, with Kip Osborne officiating.
Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
Born February 21, 1966 in San Antonio, Brian was the son of Gordon and Gloria Erkfitz. After graduating from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in 1984, Brian served as a funeral director for several years, including a management role with Dorsey-Keats Funeral Home in Waco. Afterwards Brian made a successful career in financial planning and insurance. He was a very smart business man and his clients loved him, and all knew they would be well taken care of by him.
Brian enjoyed life to the fullest, especially attending Broadway plays, traveling with his family, taking trips to the spa, and watching the Rangers play ball! He had a great love for the Lord, and was a member of St. Louis ACTS men’s group.
He loved going to comedy shows and really was the comedian of the family. He was always the life of the party and loved making people laugh.
He was larger than life and lived his life that way living every day to the fullest. He taught us all to never sweat the small stuff. There is no doubt there is some sort of grand performance going on in Heaven today.
A loving husband, father, son, brother, nephew, and cousin, Brian cherished his family and was deeply loved by so many.
Brian was preceded in death by his sister, Loretta Ann Erkfitz; and his grandparents, Evangelina and Marcelo Cantu.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Sherry; his son, Cameron; his daughter, Meagan; his parents, Gordon and Gloria Erkfitz; and his two sisters, Brenda McMillan and husband, Lance McMillan and Laura Steele and husband Matt Steele.
He is also survived by nephews, Cole and Reid McMillan, Patrick, Ethan, John Matthew, and Quinton Steele; nieces, Lexi McMillan, and Grace and Susanna Steele; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and many beloved friends.
Pallbearers will be Cameron Erkfitz, Boyd Kent, Nick Fung, Lance McMillan, Patrick Wright, Darrell Pietsch, Jose Garrido, and Wesley Hughes
