OBITUARY

Carl H. Viana, 71, of Hewitt, loving husband, father and "Pa-pa", joined the Church Triumphant suddenly on Friday, February 25, 2005 in Marble Falls.

Services will be at 2 pm Tuesday at the Harris Creek Baptist Church with Ken Hering officiating. Burial will follow in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial DVD of his life will be shown during visitation.

Carl was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in January 28, 1934 and moved to South America as a child. He attended school through junior year of High School in Buenos Aires, when he and his father, mother and sisters, moved to New York City. He graduated from Blessed Heart H.S in NYC, and then joined his beloved Marine Corps. Carl served 3 years as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the USMC, including time in the Korean War guarding Air Bases. Carl married Sandra L. Crain of Skiatook, OK in 1961.

Together they lived around the US while Carl worked at Cape Canaveral, in Brazil and then back in Tulsa before graduating from University of Tulsa with a BS in EE in 1967.

Their son Darrell was born in Melbourne, Fla, and the oldest daughter Carla in Norman OK. The family then moved to Garland where the youngest daughter Cathy was born. Carl retired from Texas Instruments in Dallas after 20 years as a Field engineer around the US and in Thailand.

Carl got a MBA from University of Dallas and a 2nd MBA in Contracts Management from Abilene Christian. Carl, Sandy and Cathy then moved to Hewitt, TX where Carl worked 10 years at Chrysler Technologies Airborne Systems as a Subcontracts Administrator. In 1985 Carl was admitted to the National Contract Management association. Carl had 7 grandchildren who were the joy of his life.

Carl loved the Lord, and his family, but his passion was what Americans call Soccer. Carl played, watched, and was referee at thousands of games throughout his life. He was a FIFA State 1 referee and officiated NASL and college games down to youth league. Carl was a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church in McGregor, TX.

He is survived by his wife Sandy (Crain) Viana of Hewitt; his son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Terri Viana of Garland; his daughter and son-in-law, James and Carla Post of Bay City, and his daughter and son-in-law, Ken and Cathy Hering of Alvord. His seven grandchildren are Monica Christine Viana of Garland, Joshua Carl and Lauren Elyce Post of Bay City, and Cooper Allen, Carson Lee, Camdyn Elizabeth, and Kayden Grace.

Carl spent the last several years working with Central Texas Senior Ministries Meals on Wheels program and in leiu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Central Texas Senior Ministries Meals on Wheels 501 W. Waco Dr 76657 254-752-0497.
