Carmen Gonzales was a strong, resilient woman who cared deeply for her family. She loved to spend time with her sisters and take trips to Vegas when they had a chance. She always wanted the best for people and would do anything for anyone.
Carmen passed away at the age of 81 on December 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She went peacefully to the Lord.
She was born October 25, 1943, in Marlin, Texas, to Seveas and Hermina Guevara Beltran. She was known as their wild child as she always marched to the beat of her own drum. As a child, she was a carefree spirit who loved to play with her sister, Martha, and horse around with their little sister, Gladys. Carmen grew up in Marlin, Texas, where her dad owned an automobile shop. She was very athletic and played baseball with the boys growing up, and when she was up to bat they would shout, “Move back! Carmen is up!” She always hit a home run!
Carmen was a cancer survivor, and throughout her difficult health she wanted to give back as she and her sisters joined in the annual Waco Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
Carmen was raised a Roman Catholic and was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. In 1963, Carmen met and fell in love with Louis and married at Santa Maria del Pilar Catholic Church in Marlin, Texas. Carmen and Louis had one son, Louis Gonzales, III. Carmen loved her son so much, took pride in him, and admired all his accomplishments.
Carmen attended cosmetology college and was a hairdresser/beautician for 60 years. She was so good at her job that she was in constant demand.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Seveas and Hermina Beltran; husband, Louis Gonzales, Jr.; brother, Alfred Beltran; and sister, Gladys Reyes.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Louis Gonzales, III.; granddaughter, Zoe Gonzales; grandson, Heston Humphrey; their mother, Nikki Gonzales; along with her siblings, Martha Patterson, Seveas Beltran (Jumbo), and Jake Beltran.
The Gonzales family would like to thank Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Halcyon, Reliable Health, The Atrium in Bellmead, and sister-in-law Vicki Lynn Tullos for all their care and for ensuring that Carmen was always taken care of and loved.
There will be a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waco, TX. The service is on December 20, 2024, at 2:00 pm. Visitation and Rosary will begin at 1:00 pm.
