Carmen Bernal Mansolo, 96, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Francis Catholic Church by Father Miguel Gonzales.
Burial will be in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home with a rosary at 5 p.m. led by Deacon Jessie Garza
Carmen was born in San Antonio to Ralph and Belen Bernal. She married Joe C. Mansolo, Sr. in 1928, and they moved to Waco in 1945. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved gardening, music, dancing, cooking, talking on the telephone with friends, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Everyone loved her delicious tamales, and she once won first place in the Waco menudo cooking contest. She enjoyed babysitting and caring for the children of her family and friends. She was a longtime member of St. Francis where was involved in Guadalupanas and Terciarias.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Beatrice Villanueva.
She leaves her sons, Joe Mansolo Jr. and wife Candy of Hewitt, Ralph Mansolo and wife Esther of Waco, John Mansolo and wife Gloria, and Antonio Mansolo, all of Waco; daughters, Candy Hernandez of Waco, Hope Garcia of Dallas, Margaret Rivera of Waco, Isabel De La Torre and husband David of Dallas, Carmen Cruz of Waco, Esther Salinas and husband Adolph of Hewitt, and Rachel Mansolo of Waco; sister, Isabel Castilleja of Waco; 46 grandchildren, 105 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
