Mrs. Carmen Riojas Olvera, 82, of Waco, died Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, 2002, at a local nursing home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Rev. David Liebham officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Visitation with the family will follow. The family will be receiving at 3413 Homan.
Mrs. Olvera was born July 18, 1920, in San Antonio. She was married to Apolinar V. Olvera, Sr., who preceded her in death in 1971. She has lived in Waco for 46 years, and was a retired nurse?s aid.
She leaves several survivors, including a son, Frank Olvera of Waco; daughters, Grace Chapa of Beaumont, Victoria Castillo of Temple, Hope Ciazinski of Hewitt, and Diana Olvera, Alice Tristan, Maria Salazar, and Christina Gonzalez, all of Waco; a brother, Jesse Riojas of Mt. Clemens, Michigan, and a sister, Beatrice Morales of Corpus Christi; 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roland Olvera, Danny Chapa, Manuel Olvera, Anthony Paul Tristan Jr., Ruben Paul Salazar, Jimmy Wayne Morgan Jr., and Raymond Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Melendez Jr. and Mike Lozano
