Carolyn Drake, 74, passed away on June 9, 2012, Jesus collected another angel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father John Guzaldo officiating. Visitation with the family will be Monday June 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral . A rocary will be recited at 7 p.m. Monday by Deacon Greg George.

Carolyn was born in West, TX in 1938 to Joe and Agnes Jansky.

In the early fifties, she moved with her family to Waco, TX where she graduated from University High School and met her husband Ronald G. Drake. They married on March 12, 1956 and were happily married for 56 years, going on to raise and love three sons and one daughter. Carol worked as a nursing assistant at the age of 16. She felt nursing was what she was meant to do, taking classes and training to become a certified nurse. Carol worked as a nurse under Dr. David Dow for 23 years, assisting him in surgery and in the office. During retirement, Carol worked at Baylor University in the Athletics and Human Resources Department.

Living a life following God and Jesus was important to her. Carol was an active participant at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Marlin, TX for many years, where she served as the President of Pro Life, led rosary sessions, and read weekly readings to the congregation as a lector. Carol also made rosaries for area churches, including St. Joseph's and St. Mary's.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Carol also enjoyed many hobbies. Her favorites included crocheting, knitting, designing jewelry, reading, and gardening.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Kathryn Jansky and Mary Burns; and her brothers, Ludvick, Victor, Ernest, Ed, and Jerry Jansky.

Carol is survived by her husband, Ronald G. Drake Sr.; her sons, Ronald G. Drake, Jr. of Corpus Christi, Joe Drake of Greenwood, LA, Terry Drake and wife, Carla, of Crawford, TX; and daughter, Kathy Gorgas and husband, Edward, of Riesel, TX.

She is further survived by her brother, George Jansky of China Springs, TX and sister, Mayme Lister of Waco, TX; her eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Drake, Joe Drake, Terry Drake, Cody and Kyle Gorgas, and Bobby Dean Brooks. Honorary Pall Bearer is Corey Drake, Edward Gorgas, and Bill Thielen.
