Carolyn Kay Duffer, 55, of China Spring, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Quality Care Nursing Home of Waco. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Copeland, pastor of the First Baptist Church of China Spring, officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, August 21, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation and service.
Carolyn was born June 28, 1953 in Dallas to William and Grace (Anderson) Pundt. She graduated from DeSoto High School and also attended the University of Texas at Arlington. Carolyn managed four TCBY Stores in the Metroplex before retiring and moving to China Spring in 1999.
Carolyn was never a quitter; she was fiercely tenacious and despite a long list of health problems, she refused to complain. She was an outstanding mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family and kept the family circle together with love and devotion. She kept an immaculate home and enjoyed working on her computer, doing research and helping her brother and son with their college work.
Carolyn took the most pride in cooking for her family during the holidays, doing crafts and playing school with her grandchildren, and doing everyone's tax returns. Her grandchild once remarked "Ask MeMe, she knows everything."
She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Pundt, in 2006.
She is survived by her father, William Pundt of China Spring; two sons, Jeffrey Duffer of Dallas and Brian Duffer and his wife, Selena of China Spring; two brothers, Steve Pundt and his wife, Estela of Duncanville, and Bruce Pundt of Robinson; and three grandchildren, Jessica Duffer of Phoenix, and Brianna and Kaylee Duffer of China Spring.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all of Carolyn's health care providers, especially the staff of Quality Care Nursing Home of Waco.
