August 7, 1925 to July 1, 2009
Catherine Silvas, 83, of Marlin, was called home to our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, July 1, 2009.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 5 at Spanish Assembly of God of Marlin with the Rev. Rudy Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Marlin. Visitation and prayer service will be 6 - 8 p.m. Saturday, July 4 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Ama, as she was fondly called, was born August 7, 1925 in Franklin, Texas to Camillio and Hortencia Martinez. She moved to Marlin in 1956 when she married Jim Silvas. Her life was a testimony to her loving and giving spirit and her true faith in God. She faced death like she had life with much dignity and strength. She received God at a young age and was a lifelong member of the Spanish Assembly of God of Marlin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Jesse, Albert, Juan and Thanes, and two sisters, Ines and Prudencia.
She is survived by daughters, Terry Centeno of San Joes, Calif., Juanita Willars, Connie Melcher and husband, Ignacio, all of Marlin, Betty Silva and husband, Epifanio of Waco, Ermalinda Rodriquez and husband, Lauro, of Jewitt, Cynthia Silvas of Mexia; son, Henry Silvas and wife, Lisa of Marlin; son-in-law, Tony Soto; sisters, Adella Soto and Virginia Soto of Marlin; brothers, Rudy Martinez and wife, Josie of Rockdale and Lupe Martinez and wife, Tina, and Pete Martinez and wife, Florencia of Marlin. She was also blessed with 35 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 21-great-great-grandhcildren, and many family and friends.
Pallbearers are Michael Willars, Philip Puentes Jr., Raymond Silva, Marty Soto, Gregory Soto and Henry Silvas, Jr.
