Cecil Ray Holley, Sr., 69, of Iredell, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at a local hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at Rutledge-Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Hico under the direction of OakCrest Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Iredell. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Rutledge-Jones Funeral Home
Cecil was born in Oklahoma on September 13, 1932. His family moved to Electra when he was 2 years old. He graduated from high school at Electra. He served nine years in the National Guard and two years active duty in the Army. Cecil married Bonnie M. Pruitt July 19, 1958. They moved from Dallas to Iredell in 1964. He was a certified welder and they had a garment manufacturing company in Iredell until 1999.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie of Iredell; daughters, Kathy Roberts of Iredell, Kathy Pearcy and husband Terry of Bastrop, Debbie McClure and husband Dickie of Iredell and Tammy Mattiza and husband Chris of Hewitt; brother, Billy Holley of Arlington; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; uncles, Chock and Nola Lee Crowley of Tipton and Elton Crowley of Iredell; mother-in-law, Estelle Crowley of Iredell and special friends, Theodore and Shirley Wilkins of Whitney.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; infant daughter, Angela and son, Cecil, Jr. and his beloved cocker spaniel, Goober.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeremy Pearcy, Jerad Pearcy, Chad McClure, D.J. McClure, Jimmy Holley and Dusty Holley. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyler Mattiza.
