Cecil Pollard

On December 1, 2005 our dear Mother, Mrs. Cecil Ida Pollard, joined Daddy (Rev. J. C. Pollard) in Heaven. We know it was a glorious reunion, especially the meeting with her Lord and Savior, Jesus. Mother was a faithful servant for her Lord since accepting Him as a young lady.

She continued her service to God through Daddy's 51 years of ministry and until the day of her passing. Her life was her Lord and her family. Her message to all was the "plan of Salvation."

Mother was born to Will and Claudia Combs in Wood County on June 26, 1910. She married Daddy at the home of Rev. Roy Bailey in the Clover Hill Community on May 25, 1929. They resided primarily in Wood County and ministered to 15 Churches during the period of their time together. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage which lasted until Daddy's passing in 1984.

Their union produced five children who hold precious memories of wonderful childhood days and the later rich, adult parent-son/daughter relationships.

Soon after Daddy's passing, Mother relocated to Austin to live with her daughter, Peggy A. Wall. They later moved to Waco where Mother spent the last years of her life. After moving to Waco, Mother became a member of the Brazos Meadows Baptist Church in Hewitt.

Mother enjoyed sewing for most of her 95 years and was an accomplished seamstress.

It seems she has sewn since we can remember. She made our shirts, dresses and underwear. She sewed for friends, neighbors and strangers, usually for free or an unbelievably low price. She could create anything from wedding apparel to lady's suits to men's sports coats.

A big Christmas project every year was to crochet her special suit hangars for adults and family and make stuffed animals for the children.

Mother is survived by her five children: Rev. Johnnie M. Pollard and wife Jane of Pine Mills, Peggy A Wall of Waco, James C. Pollard and wife Nita of Austin, Bennie R. Pollard and wife Patsy of Longview and Sandra Elaine Campbell and husband Earl of Belton. Her survivors also include 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 3 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Oak Crest Funeral Home in Waco. Funeral services under the direction of the Oak Crest Funeral Home will be conducted at the Brazos Meadows Baptist Church in Hewitt on Sunday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m. with son, Rev. Johnnie Pollard and Pastor and grandson-in-law, Rev. Billy Edwards officiating.

A graveside service will be held at the Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery (Wood County) on Monday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. where she will be interred next to Daddy. Serving as pallbearers are Farrell Pollard, Jonathan Pollard, Jarred Pollard, Daniel Brooks, Hubert Kidd III, Ben Campbell and Marty Campbell.

Mother's prayer for all would be to make the right decisions in life, and the only way to do this is trust the Lord, stay close to Him and follow His Commandments. Live so close to Him, pray so intently, depend so completely that you feel as if there is nothing between your soul and your Savior.

Hallelujah, we shall rise!
