Cecilia Torrez

Cecilia Torrez, 92, of Waco went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 26, 2021.

She was born on August 7, 1928 in Floresville, Texas to Enrique and Petra Martinez. Cecilia met the love of her life, Gabriel Torrez, Sr. in Satin, Texas who would go on to be the father of her children. Gabriel Sr. and Cecilia married on December 21, 1946 and spent 37 wonderful years together raising their children and buying a farm in Chilton, Texas. Cecilia spent her life dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

To the woman we called Mom, Grandma, Maw Maw, and Big Maw Maw thank you for your unconditional love and the selfless years you gave to this family. All your love and faith impacted us more than words can say. The countless memories we will forever cherish range from when you saw a mouse in the yard and started chasing it with a broom yelling "I hate meeces to pieces!" to playing baseball in the corn fields with your kids and grandkids to whipping the kids in jacks & marbles to those amazing Maw Maw pancakes on Saturday mornings. Your smile was contagious and your laugh was so generous. Thank you for lighting up any room you were in and all of our lives. You will forever be loved, missed, and cherished.

Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gabriel Torrez, Sr.; daughters, Linda and Yolanda "Yole" Torrez.

She is survived by her brother, Leandro "Nano" Martinez; sister, Jesusa Limon; daughter, Cecilia "Chila" Torrez; son, Joe Torrez, Sr. and wife, Diana; daughter, Virginia Diaz and husband, Lupe; and son, Gabriel Torrez, Jr.; grandchildren, Joe Torrez, Jr. and wife, Lisa, Stephanie Hashaw, April Eckenrode and husband, Michael, Ron Diaz and wife, Micah, Jessica Baitz, Alejandro "Hondo" Torrez and wife, Zandra, Richard Diaz, and Louis Arechiga II; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Humphrey and fiance, Anastassia, Alysha Humphrey and wife, Jessica, Gabriel Torrez, Vanessa Torrez, Thomas Nordmann, Grace Baitz, Joseph Torrez, Nicholas Nordmann, Antonio Torrez, Samantha Torrez, Louis Arechiga III, Aidan Baitz, Phillip Torrez, Austyn Eckenrode, Annaliese Eckenrode, Graham Baitz, Benjamin Baitz, Howard Arechiga, and Jennings Arechiga; great-great-grandchild, Ayden Padilla.
