Lt. Col. (Ret.) Charles Clinton Burgoon, DVM, 56, of Mexia passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, in a Waco hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Burial with full Military Honors from the U.S. Air Force will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16, at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday at the OakCrest Funeral Home. A memorial video of his life will be shared during the visitation and prior to the service.
Charles was born March 3, 1950 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to H.T. and Evelyn (Martin) Burgoon.
He graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973. He also received a masters degree in Laboratory Animal Medicine from Penn State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years, retiring in 1998 as a Lt. Colonel.
He was currently an epidemiologist at the Waco – McLennan County Health Department.
He married Ann Dukes on July 27, 1973 in College Station. Charles and Ann spent 33 blessed years together as partners and best friends. Charles enjoyed a full life of reading, enjoying his job, and completing the numerous tasks his wife requested of him.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Stephanie Burgoon and husband, Joshua Duffus of Whittier, Alaska; brother, Henry L. Burgoon and wife, Sharon of North Richland Hills; sister, Martha Faulkner of Bryan, and numerous nephews and nieces.
The family appreciates the care given by Dr. Ofobuike Okani during Charles' illness.
