Charles Howard

Charles T. “Chuck” Howard, Jr., 76, of Waco, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Providence Hospital. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 26 at 10 am at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 25 from 6 – 8 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco.

Chuck was born May 14, 1939 in Alton, Illinois to Charles T. and Della (Crawford) Howard. He and his family moved to Waco in 1944. He attended St. Mary’s Elementary and University High School from which he graduated from in 1957. "Charlie", as he was known to his coworkers, worked at Frank Weaver Pontiac from 1956 to 1961 and Duncan Buick from 1961 until he retired in 2004 and from 2004 until earlier this year, he was employed at the former Izuzu of Waco on Waco Drive. Charles would often play Santa Clause at the company Christmas parties, which he loved to do. He also enjoyed gardening, working in the garage, watching John Wayne movies, and bowling, but, most of all, he loved to watch his granddaughter play softball. He taught himself to cook through trial and error, eventually becoming quite the cook.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Gloria Howard of Waco; sister, Janice Howard of Waco; brother, Jim Howard of Austin; sons, James Howard and wife Christi, Greg Howard, and Tommy Howard and wife Debbie, all of Waco; daughter-in-law, Cathy Howard; grandchildren, Johnny Harris of Frisco; Scott Howard, Mike Howard, Lauren Howard, Kayla Howard and Maddie Howard, all of Waco; great-grandchildren, Hailee Howard, Gracie Miller, Makenna Howard, and Ava Lou McNabb all of Waco.

Pallbearers will be Bill Taylor, James Howard, Tommy Howard, Greg Howard, Neil Embry, and Jamie Boswell.

Chuck’s family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Providence Hospital for the outstanding care they provided.
