Charles (Chuck) William Loper, 80, of Waco, passed away Monday, August 3, 2009. Graveside services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Friday, August 7, at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday, August 6, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Chuck was born December 18, 1928 in East Bridgewater, Mass. to Charles W. and Mary (Paiva) Lopez. He served in the Army during the Korean War and afterwards attended Baylor University. While in Waco, he worked at Goldstein-Miguel serving as merchandise manager of men's clothing. With Chuck Flood, he opened the Charles Shop which operated several years in Waco. He also later operated Loper, Ltd., a company which manufactured quality men's clothing that was sold all over the United States to major companies such as Neiman Marcus and Sanger Harris. His company had one of the first computerized cutters. After being in the industry for 40 years, Chuck sold his company and retired. He enjoyed traveling, and visited places all over the world.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherrill Lynn Johnson and husband, Bill of College Station; brother, James Lopez, and sister, Pat Brady, both of East Bridgewater; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
