Charles Lee Moore, Jr.
May 30, 1920 – November 18, 2005
Charles Lee Moore, Jr., 85, of Waco, passed away Friday, Nov. 18, 2005 at a local nursing home facility.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2005 at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco, TX with Dr. Rebecca Whitaker officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. in Waco, TX.
Charles was born May 30, 1920 in Saltillo, TX to Charles and Sally (Vanderpool) Moore, Sr. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a Master Sergeant. He married Geraldine Helen Flynn on June 1, 1945 in Walla Walla, Washington, and later moved to Waco in 1946. He served in the Waco Army Reserves for three years. He was a salesman for Swift & Co. for many years. They were members of Central Presbyterian Church in Waco.
Mr. Moore was an avid reader who loved sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, and he enjoyed listening to his collection of big band albums. He is best remembered as a sweet and kind person who was one of the last of the true gentlemen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine (Gerry); two sons, Gary Lee Moore, Sr. and wife, Debbie of Woodway, and James (Jim) Pearson Moore and wife, Sue of Waco; four grandchildren, Gary Lee Moore, Jr., Bryan Andrew Moore, Kenna Marie Davis, and Parker Symone Graham, all of Waco; great granddaughter, Pearson Blythe Davis of Waco, and sister, Dorothy Jacks of Dallas.
The family would like to thank all of the Hillcrest Hospice Staff, especially Debbie, Linda, LaToya, Rita, and Karen, and the entire staff of the Hospice Unit of Crestview Health Care Residence for their kind and loving care during his illness.
