After Graduation, she attended Baylor University and received a Bachelor of Science in Education focusing in Journalism and Biology. She earned a Master of Library and Information Science from Texas Womens University in 1995.

She was a faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church serving as a Midweek Teacher and for many years on the Evangelism Committee.
