Christopher D. Estes passed away on March 21, 2021, at 68, in Waco, Texas. Visitation will be Saturday, March 27, from 5-7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home. The burial will be Tuesday, March 30 at 9 am at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery with words of comfort from Reverend Davy Wright.
Christopher was born November 11, 1952, in Texarkana, AR, to Jurel and Lola Estes.
Christopher proudly served this country in the US Army, receiving a National Defense Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal, among other honors. After his military retirement, he worked for many years for the US Postal Service before retiring again.
On October 13, 1975, he promised to love Flora Estes “til death do us part” and kept that promise for 45 years. Christopher was always ready to help someone in need and impart the wisdom of his life lessons. The only thing he kept secret was his award-winning brisket recipe! Christopher was a loving husband; He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was so proud of each of their accomplishments. He will continue to be always treasured and missed immensely by his friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jurel and Lola Estes; sister, Merry Estes; and sons, James and Gregory.
Christopher is survived by his wife, Flora; mother-in-law, Mattie Graves; daughters, Andrea and Christina; close nephew, Geary, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his uncle and aunt, Ommer and Mary Bruce; his brother, Jurel Estes and wife, Kim; sisters, Shirley Estes Mitchell, Lola Hill and husband Ron, Claudie Pink and husband, Larry; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be his special friends, Charles E. Green, John Powell, Bobby Peoples, Lewis Hutchison, Alan Hutchison, Dudley Hutchison, and Benny Graves.
