Cindy Mays Evans
Cindy Mays Evans was born on January 12, 1947 in Waco, Texas to Dr. Edwin and Mary Mays. She passed from this earth on Sunday, June 10, 2007.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12th, at DaySpring Baptist Church in Waco with Dr. Burt Burleson and Dr. Michael Massar officiating. The church is located at 1700 W. Highway 6, behind the Texas Oncology Care Center (Click the word MAP on the right side of this screen for a map to the church).
Cindy invested her life in making the world a better place and in making the people of the world better people. She did that in a variety of ways. Cindy was engaged in her community, serving on various school and civic entities.
She was intentional in being of service to her city, state and nation. Cindy was a Justice of the Peace for McLennan County and a most involved member of the Democratic Party.
Cindy also had a deep faith and love for DaySpring Baptist Church, where she was a charter member.
She met and married her life long love, Gene Evans, in 1970. Cindy's great love in life was her family.
Known by family and friends as GaGa, she was truly a modern-day matriarch gathering parents, children, and grandchildren to her with an unconditional love that brought out the best in all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene.
She is survived by her mother and father, Mary and Edwin Mays of Waco; brother, Mark Mays and wife JoAnn, of Austin; brother, David Mays, of Waco; son, John, of Canyon, Texas; her son, Murray, and his wife Kim of Waco; her daughter, Emily, and husband, Dwayne Benoit, of Austin; her daughter, Laura, and husband Chris Tolar, of Plano; and granddaughters, Regan, Maddie, and Lauren Evans of Waco.
Memorials may be designated to Providence Hospice or the DaySpring Baptist Church Building Fund.
