Clarence Henry Weikel, 90, of Waco, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2005 at a local nursing facility. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Father Patrick Ebner as the celebrant. Burial will follow at China Spring Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. Visitation with his family will follow, and a memorial video honoring his life will be shown. .
Clarence was born to Theo and Clara Weikel on August 12, 1915 in Cuero. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio. He served in the Army during World War II.
He worked for the Waco News-Tribune for 24 years, and was a Justice of the Peace for 20 years. Since retiring, he enjoyed playing golf. He also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and Providence Hospital. He was a long-time member of St. Louis Catholic Church. He was a member of China Springs Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, his daughter, Donna Marie Baker, and granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Baker.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leona Weikel; daughter, Brenda Winfield, and husband, Chuck of Houston; son, Larry Weikel and wife, Tracy of Cisco; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
