Claude C. Hoffman

Claude Christian Hoffman, 94, of Waco, Texas passed away Saturday evening Feb. 22, 2014. A memorial service will held Friday, February 28, 2014, from 3-4:30 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home in Waco, Texas, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
He was the son of John Christian and Laura E. (Baltzell) Hoffman from Paint Rock, Texas. He was married to the late Carrie Oakley “Joy” Hoffman on June 29, 1941 in Lubbock, Texas. Both completed their education at Texas Tech University. With his degree in Agriculture, he worked for the Soil Conservation Service 30 years in County offices in Hamilton, Gatesville, McGregor and Waco, Texas.
Claude and Carrie were actively involved in the Methodist Church and served in various capacities. He was a dedicated husband and caring father, married for 69 years. He was a great steward of the agricultural resources that meant so much to him, spending hours planting, harvesting and enjoying the fruits of his labor in the soil. His family and friends will fondly remember him.
He is survived by his five children. Daughters, Sue Benson of Springfield, Virginia and Cathy Dawson and husband Dave of Provo, Utah; Sons, Chris Hoffman and wife Pam of Waco, Texas, Rev. Cal Hoffman and wife Gena of Breckenridge, Texas, and John Hoffman and wife Anna of Waco, Texas; Grandchildren, Bryce and wife Melinda Dawson, Devin Dawson, Andrew, Kelvin, Haley, Abigail and Alex Hoffman; great-grandchildren, Dayna, Sarah, and Ryan Dawson.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the management and staff of Wesley Woods Health Care Center in Hewitt for all their kindness and care of their father while he was a resident there.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, or the Methodist Children Home in Waco, TX.
