Claude Hopkins, 89, of Gholson, passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Providence Health Center.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Agee officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, October 30 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Claude was born July 30, 1920 in Gholson to Roy Lee Hopkins and Josie Marcell Hopkins. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. Claude married May Louise Edwards on January 18, 1946. He worked for 37 years as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service retiring in 1978. He also worked as a farmer raising cattle on his family farm in Chalk Bluff. Claude was a member of Western Heights Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Deborah Hopkins; brothers, Carl Hopkins, Howard Hopkins and Louis Hopkins; and his sisters, Helen Hardwick and Evelyn Jones Fuller.
Claude is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise; daughter, Melanie Hix and husband, Michael of Hewitt; grandsons, Jason Booker of San Antonio and Beau Nobles of Hewitt; step-granddaughters, Jamie Hix of Waco; and step-great grandchildren, Noah Shaver and Pacey Shaver both of Hewitt.
