Clifford Johnson, 85, of Woodway passed away Sunday, October 7 following complications from a recent surgery.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 11 at the First Baptist Church of Hewitt.

Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00p.m. to 8:30p.m. on Wednesday, October 10, at Oak Crest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mr. Johnson was born January 2, 1922, to Lonnie and Della Johnson. He grew up in a family of 11 brothers and sisters in rural Hamilton County. He was a World War II veteran and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers as a master electrician, which was his trade until retirement.

A long time Baptist deacon and a current member of First Baptist Church of Hewitt he had taught third and fourth grade Sunday School for over forty years while also working with the Royal Ambassador program. His commitment to community service – Habitat for Humanity, Cross Ties Baptist Church, Gospel Café and many other organizations throughout the years – was confirmed by his recognition as a 2006 winner of the Jefferson Award for Public Service.

Cliff's life was completely and totally dedicated to his family, his faith and his desire to serve as many of those in need as he possibly could. The pride and joy of his later life were his grandchildren – Julie, Bo, Jonathan, Jeremy and Clifford – and his great grandchildren - Alexis and Caitlynn. His faith in Jesus Christ was steadfast and rock solid.

His family and friends know he has met his savior and received the ultimate reward – "Well done my good and faithful servant". While the many joys of this life – his family, his church family and friends, his service work and his farm kept him focused in this world, he knew that the eternal joys of heaven awaited him. As he always said – "I'm not quite ready to go, but I AM PREPARED".

He is survived by his wife, Wilma Neal Johnson; daughters, Sandi Riley and her husband, Roland of Ross; Jennifer Miller and her husband, Herschel of Hewitt and son, Jim Johnson and wife, Connie of Woodway.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Julie Everett and her husband, David; Bo Johnson and his fiancé, Eleeza King; Jonathan Riley, Jeremy Miller and Clifford Miller and great grandchildren Alexis Everett and Caitlynn Everett. Also, sisters Nettie Streater and Ione Cozby and brother Lus Johnson and many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Bo Johnson, Jonathan Riley, Jeremy Miller, Clifford Miller and the representative for the honorary pallbearers, Glynne Kelly.

Honorary pallbearers will be Evan Wallace, Charles Thornal, Billy Pavliska, C.L. Fisher and Raymond Reading.
