Mr. Clifton Monroe Toby, 94, known to everyone who loved him as Pat, passed away November 11, 2009 at his daughter's home in Axtell.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at Oakwood Cemetery with the Reverends D. Michael Toby and Billy G. Burchfield officiating.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown during the visitation.
Pat was born March 22, 1915 in Wanette, Okla. to Hugh and Ida Lee (Sarrett) Toby. He married Pauline Johnson in January of 1941 and they had two children. He was employed for 28 years by Crown Central Petroleum in Houston. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing 42. Pat was known for his large gardens, and he readily shared his vegetables with his appreciative neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 47 years, Pauline, and his second wife of 14 years, Georgia; two brothers and three sisters.
Pat is survived by a loving family: daughter, Linda and husband, Rev. Billy Burchfield of Axtell; son, Rev. D. Michael Toby and wife, Jackie, of Waco; sister, Dorthy Hallum of Ada, Okla.; sister-in-law, Inez Blalock of Cookville; grandchildren, Curtis Lacouture, Mark Lacouture and wife, Denise, Charisse Hamilton and husband, Jerry, Josh Toby and wife Olya, and Scott Toby and wife, Monica; great-grandchildren, Michael Lacouture and wife Kara, Tiffany Breaux and husband, C.B., Samantha Hamilton, Quincy Lacouture, Jacob Hamilton, Kara Lacouture, Matthew Lacouture, Christy Lacouture, Abigail Lacouture, Marlena Toby, Evan Toby, and Conrad Toby; and three great-great-grandchildren, Khlore Lacouture, Aziriah Breaux, and Kinley Lacouture, and many many wonderful nieces and nephews.
The family especially thanks Hillcrest Hospice for their care during dad's final illness.
