Clyde R. Billington
December 7, 1927 – May 1, 2014
Clyde R. Billington, 86, of Clifton, former Wacoan, passed away on Thursday May 1, 2014 at Hillcrest Hospital. Graveside services will be Saturday May 10, at 11:30 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, visitation will be prior to the service with Reed Justus officiating.
Clyde was born on December 7, 1927 in Waco to William Auzzie Billington Sr. and Nora Bell Royals. He attended schools in Waco, graduating from Waco High School in 1946. He then served in the US Army in Korea. After he returned home, he attended Baylor University. He was employed by General Tire and served five years as a Texas Highway Patrolman. He later was employed as a construction foreman for Billington Construction Co. in Waco for 25 years.
On December 2, 1950, he married Charlene Koehne and to this union one son was born. He was an active member in the Clifton Methodist Church and a member of George N. Denton Masonic Lodge # 24 and Clifton Masonic Lodge # 360.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William A. Billington, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Jo Morgan; and nephews, Barry and Bradley Billington.
Clyde is survived by his wife, Charlene; son, Clifton; sisters- in-laws, Judy Cohn and husband Gary, Camille Billington, Patsy Brandenburg; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Hospital for their compassionate care, especially the hospice team.
