Collie Sancetta, 92, died peacefully Saturday December 26, 2009. A private graveside service was held at Holy Cross Cemetery Monday, December 28, with Msgr. Mark Deering officiating.
Collie was born December 29, 1916 in Waco to Louise and Charlie Tusa, who owned a grocery store in East Waco for many years. She married Hugo Makowski in 1946 and'they owned and operated Makowski's garage until his death in 1971. In 1975 she married Joe Sancetta, a long time friend, and moved to California where she lived until his death in 1991. After Joe's death she moved back to Waco and renewed her relationship with her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Joe and Tony, and husbands, Hugo and Joe.
Collie is survived by her devoted goddaughter, Linda Orlando Littlewood and husband, Harry; her mentor and best friend of 55 years, Msgr. Mark Deering; a caring stepdaughter, Carol Sancetta Doti in California, and a dear friend, Helen Eichler in Colorado.
A "Special Heartfelt Thank You" goes to Uni Murphy, her daughters Victoria and Elizabeth and son Benjamin, and to sweet, gentle Ms. Anna for their extraordinary care and companionship these last five years. "Miss Collie's" and Uni's hearts are bonded by cherished memories of a trusted and loving relationship.
Collie was a delight to know and love. She will be remembered for her graciousness, generosity and endearing cheerful spirit.
Memorials may be made to her favorite charity, St Jude's Hospital for Children or to St Louis Catholic Church in Waco.
