Constance Elizabeth Adler was born on September 22, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the daughter of Clarence Wilson Videan and Hazel Raymus, and the sister of Donald Videan. She lived in Detroit, Chicago, Dallas, Waco, and finally, upon her husband Ed's death, Houston - where she died on January 8, 2024. She lived a long and remarkable life.
She was very close to her father, a daddy's girl, apple of his eye. She made him proud through her many academic and other accomplishments. Her early years were spent in Rosedale Park in Detroit, spending much time with her beloved Uncle Wilson and Aunt Lorene, who lived down the street.
In 1955, she married her One True Love, Edwin Stanley Adler, whom she had met at MSU on a blind date at the lake on a hot day. Ed told her shortly after meeting her, "I'm going to marry you." They were married until his death in 2017. We know Connie and Ed are over-the-moon happy to be together again.
Connie's accomplishments are numerous and varied. She obtained patents; authored books; obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago; maintained a successful psychology practice; was active in FBC; in World Relief Hunger organization; and in prison outreach programs. She was featured in a television commercial for Runaway Bay - her favorite summer vacation spot - and was proud to have been featured in the newspaper several times, including for “hijacking” a train with a tennis ball machine while on vacation.
Connie's interests were also numerous and varied. They included:
Genetics
Health & diet (especially vitamins, wild caught seafood, and whole grains)
Coordinated clothing and accessories (usually gold)
Dancing, especially ballroom, swing, square dancing and Latin
Music and concerts, especially Andre Bocelli
Travel, especially to Israel, South America, Europe
Tennis
Skiing - snow and water
Jogging
Working out at the Y
Colonial architecture and musical doorbells
The colors blue and teal
Practicality & frugality
Expressing her opinions and giving advice, “If I were you…”
Zany creativity
All-natural burgers from Barnaby’s Café
Frozen margaritas with extra salt on the rim
Tall soy mocha lattes – no whip – and always with a straw.
Ed and Connie have three daughters - Susan Kinder, Jill Naylor, married to Gordon Naylor, and Kristin Adler. They have eight grandchildren: Jennifer, Kirstin, Adam, Christopher, Alejandro, Sofia, Nathan and Daniela. Connie remained close throughout her life to Ed's youngest sister, Sharon Galatzan; she adored Sharon's children Tamar and Jonathan.
