Cresencio D. Garcia, 46, of Brooklyn, N.Y., a native of Waco, beloved brother, friend and uncle, went home to the Lord on Wednesday, May 14 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 20 at St. Francis Catholic Church with the Rev. Roman Burgos as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Monday, May 19 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Cres, as he was known to all, was born September 9, 1961 in Waco to Mariano and Susana Garcia. He overcame a life-threatening illness at an early age to become an intelligent, caring and fun loving individual who had the uncanny ability of making each person feel as if they were his favorite. Although, Cres had no children, he thought of each of his nieces and nephews as his own. He had the opportunity to travel to and live in many places. At the time of his death, Cres was residing in his favorite place, New York.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lawrence; sister, Mary Paz and all of his grandparents.

He leaves to cherish his memory two brothers; Richard Garcia and wife, Yolanda and Andrew Garcia and wife, Darlene of Waco; five sisters, Alice Hernandez and husband, John, Mary Lara and husband, Joe, Cathy Ramirez all of Waco, Hope Colquitt and husband, Curly of Round Rock and Gina Castillo and husband, Ralph of Houston; his dearest friend, Rick Robinson of New York; Aunt Betty Patena and husband, Manuel of Waco; Uncle Cruz Garcia and wife, Polly of Temple; 18 nieces and nephews; 25 great-nieces and nephews; many friends in many places and his special mutt, Buddy.

Pallbearers will be nephews, Johnny Hernandez, Fernando Fajardo, Richard Basquez, Joshua Colquitt, Adrian Garcia and Ralph "Terry" Castillo. Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Lawrence and Eric Hernandez, Zachary Colquitt and Chris and Justin Castillo.

The family wishes to thank Rick Robinson for his loving care and devotion to Cres throughout his life and especially during his illness.
