Lt. Col. Curtis E. Doan

Lt. Col. Curtis Edwin Doan, USAF, Ret., a member of the greatest generation, 92, of Waco, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014. Services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 at the Lake Shore Church of Christ with Mr. Ernie Christie officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home. Interment with full military honors will be held 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Lt. Col. Doan served in the United Sates Air Force for 23 years. He married Lucy Gray Dec. 8, 1943 in Archer City, Texas. After retirement, he worked for Steakley Bros. Chevrolet, as a security guard for McLennan County Community College, and as a supervisor for A. O. Smith. Curtis was member of the Lake Shore Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Doan; brothers, Chester and James; sisters, Bessie, Nell, Mary and Dorothy.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Doan of Waco; son and daughter in law, Dale and Mary Nell Doan of Selma; daughter in law, Carol Doan of San Antonio; sister and brother in law, Billie and Curly Gatlin of Nashville, Tn.; grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Carrie and Chris; six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Doan, Nick Doan, C.J. Doan, Sidney Doan, Chris Doan, and his special caregiver from Visiting Angels, Anthony White.
