Dail Lindsey

Dail Ellis Lindsey passed away suddenly in his home on August 13, 2023. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on September 1, 2023, at Whitehall Cemetery, Woodway, Texas.

Dail was born July 23, 1939, 10 miles south of Salado, Texas, the son of Dail H and Ruby Ellis Lindsey. He went to school in Waco, Texas, graduating from Waco High School. From there he attended several colleges receiving degrees from each. Dail was a very eclectic individual throughout his life. He pursued many different professions including Preacher (Church of Christ) and a Technical Writer for several corporations. His main passion was researching and writing about The Ole West outlaws. He even wrote and published a book about the outlaw Barney Riggs. He has been published in several western magazines and been in a documentary on the History Channel.

Dail loved photography and genealogy way before it became popular. He traveled all over getting his information from tombstones. He was the historian of the family. He could tell you about a person or place in a matter of minutes.

Dail was preceded in death by his parents; paternal and maternal grandparents; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Dail is survived by uncle, Jerry Ellis and wife, Shirley; Linda Joy Ellis (wife of deceased Cecil Vaugh Ellis); and numerous cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to any local Humane Society.
