Dan Chennault, 78, of Athens and formerly of Waco, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Grove Hill Memorial Park Cemetery, 4118 Samuell Blvd, Dallas. Visitation with his family will be 5 - 7 p.m. Monday, March 26 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Dan was born August 4, 1933 in Terrel to Saylor and Ollie Chennault. Working most of his life as a sheet rocker, Dan helped to build the once small agricultural community of Mesquite into the growing city that it is today. He loved gardening and being outside. Dan loved to fish and hunt, even training his own birddogs. His passion was traveling. Later in life, Dan became a truck driver. Driving over the road trucks all over the nation, Dan enjoyed his experiences and traveling.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; son, Harold; brothers, J.R., Kenneth, and Norman.
Dan is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy Chennault; children, Danny Chennault, Donna Johnson and husband, Audrey, Darrell Chennault and wife, Robin, Carolyn Bogost and husband, Jeff, Michael Chennault and wife, Carolyn, and Sharon Rosiles and husband, Joseph; sisters, Linda, Agnes, Ruby, and Rita, numerous grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins and friends.
