Dan Shurgot
March 10, 1926 - May 17, 2008
Mr. Dan Shurgot, 82, of Waco passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, at his home.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 23, at Speegleville Baptist Church. The Rev. Joe Bailey will conduct the service. Following the service, refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall. The refreshments will include Dan's favorite snack - cookies, milk and Black Cherry Soda.
Mr. Shurgot was a furniture repair specialist. He was one of the best even though he was legally blind most of his life. He was a kind and loving man who will be missed by those of us blessed to have known him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his best friend, Mabel " Mimi" Tennell.
He is survived by John and Carla Hines of Waco; and his nephew, Craig Shurgot of Brandon, Fla. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Lighthouse for the Blind or your favorite charity.

Dear Uncle Dan.
I will miss you very much. I do remember some of the good times we had when I visited you in Waco. I am truly sorry that we never lived closer so we might have shared more of our lives together.

John, you are in my thoughts and prayers at this time of sorrow. Dan was a kind man and he was always good to Mindy when she visited him.
