Dayton Black
October 11, 1977 - September 23, 2010.
Dayton Black, 32, of China Spring, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Scott & White Hospital, Temple, of injuries sustained in an automobile accident earlier in the month.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday, September 26, at OakCrest Funeral Home with David Brown officiating. Private burial will be held later. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, September 25, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard. A memorial video honoring his life will be shown at the visitation and prior to the service.
Dayton was born October 11, 1977 in Plano, Texas, to Richard and Cathy Black. He was a 1996 graduate of Winnsboro High School where he played football. He was a self-employed housing contractor. He was a member of Warrior Heart Ministries, and also played for the Waco Thunder semi-pro football team. He never met a stranger and loved working with kids.
Dayton was well loved by his family and friends and will always be fondly remembered as a warrior with a tender heart.
He is survived by his parents, Richard and Cathy Black; four daughters, Chyenne, Randi, Kaylee, and Nikki; sisters, Jean Taylor, and husband, Scott and their family and Amy Horne and husband, Scott and their family; former wife, Michele Black; and many relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Warden, Craig Finley, Chad Osborn, Chad Eastwood, the Waco Thunder football team, and Warrior Heart Ministries.
The family especially gives their heartfelt appreciation to the Surgical Trauma ICU at Scott & White Hospital, Temple.
