Dean Jameson

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life at 7 p.m. January 17, 2012 at OakCrest Funeral Home. Visitation with his family will begin one hour prior to the service.

Dean Merrill Jameson was born on June 3, 1941 in Peoria, Illinois to Donovan and Josephine Jameson. He graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria in 1959. Then he attended Bradley University in Peoria, where he received a Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Civil Engineering in l964 and l965. He began working for Caterpillar, Inc. on January 1965 and married Sandra Zimmerman July 31st, 1965 in Peoria, Illinois He held a number of management jobs with Caterpillar in Peoria, and in 1978 he relocated to Pontiac, Ill. as the facility engineering manager. In 1981 he became the facilities engineering manager and specialized Manufacturing Manager for the Decatur, Illinois Caterpillar Plant. In 1998 he became the project manager responsible for finding a location for a new Caterpillar Facility to build articulated trucks in the southern part of the United States. After trips to various cities, Waco was selected and in 1998 he and his family moved to Waco where he was the project manager for the first Caterpillar Facility in Waco. After 37 years with Caterpillar, retired on April 1, 2002. In 2002 he established a consulting business and was instrumental in helping the Caterpillar Work Tools facilities locate and start operation in Waco in 2005

Dean enjoyed genealogy, history, college sports, especially Baylor Sports, photography, 60's and country music, and "puttering" around the house. He was a member of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Engineers, Chi Epsilon Honorary Fraternity, Tip Off Club, Fast Break Club, and was a member of the Baylor Bear Foundations, as well as the Waco Rotary and had served on the Waco Chamber of Commerce'.



He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sandra Jameson, son Brett Jameson, Waco, brothers Gary, Peoria, Dr. Lee,(Loretta) Downers Grove, Ill. Dr. Dave, (Barb) Bushnell, Ill, Larry, Macomb, Ill, and mother-in-law, Betty Zimmerman, Waco. He was preceded in death by his father and mother.


People who knew Dean point out his strong character and sense of integrity as well as his sense of humor. He was a loving husband, father, and good friend to others, and he will be greatly missed.
