Debra Lynn Hughes
January 2, 1954 – January 28, 2009
Debra Lynn Hughes, 55, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, January 28, 2009. Services will be 2 pm Saturday, Jan. 31, at Central Christian Church, 4901 Lakeshore Drive, Waco, with the Rev. Richard Roland officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd. A memorial video honoring her life will be shown during the visitation and service.
Debra was born January 2, 1954 in McKeesport, Pa. to Ray and Lois Eberman. Debra graduated from the St. Francis Nursing School in Pittsburgh Pa.
She married Frank Hughes and moved in 1976 to Waco. Debra joined Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center and worked in Labor and Delivery as an LVN for 30 years. During that time she delivered some of Waco's happiest babies.
Debra enjoyed always helping others not only as a nurse but as a campfire leader, cheerleader supporter, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, and wife.
Debra was a true inspiration to everyone that knew her. Debra will missed by all and she will forever live in our hearts.
Debra is survived by husband, Frank Michael Joseph Hughes III; son, Mike Hughes and his wife, Rebecca; daughter, Dayna Roberts and her husband, Brad; grandson, Jacob Roberts; parents, Ray and Lois Eberman; sisters, Denise Grant and Darlene Burkett; aunt, Shirley Bonczek; nieces, Mackenzie Grant, Lisa Kear and Mederith Raguini; nephews, Jason Kovol, Ian Grant, Mario and Francis Frabizzio; brothers- in-law, Tom Hughes, Mario Frabizzio, and Kenny Burkett; sisters- in-law, Patty Frabizzio, Michelle Hughes and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Mike Hughes, Brad Roberts, Kirk Hotopp, Larry Wright, Terry Brinkerhuff and Neal Afflerbach. Honorary pallbearers will be Justin Afflerbach and Chip Moore.
The family would like to thank the staff and associates at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Beard Kultgen Brophy Bostwick & Dickson, L.L.P., Central Christian Church, Fallas Automation, Lifetime Fitness of Austin, TX, and all friends and relatives: TEAM HUGHES.
