Debra Susan Peña
July 29, 1954 – December 26, 2012

Debra Susan Peña, 58, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at her residence. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Carey Killough officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Susan was born July 29, 1954 in Temple to Arnold and Ruth (Bagby) Moore. She was raised in Moody, later moving with her family to Waco. She was married August 9, 1974 to James Ronald Peña. She attended McLennan Community College and graduated as an LVN, and worked in area nursing homes for over 10 years. She was a loving homemaker, mother, and sister, but her special love was being “Nonnee” to her beloved grandson, Christopher. Susan enjoyed being with her family as much as she could, especially traveling with her mother, sisters, and brother. A special treat was meeting regularly with her brother and sisters for family lunches. Also important to Susan was the completion of a family cookbook as a way of expressing her love to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Susan is survived by her husband, James R. Peña; sons, James Christopher Peña and John Allen Peña; grandson, James Christopher Peña Jr., all of Waco; sisters, Tricia McKelvain and husband, Joe of Killeen, and Jeannie Hunt and husband, Hal of Eddy; and brother, Kyle Moore of Waco.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Moore, Brian Cassidy, Bill Picot, Michael Charles Webb, Jason Schrimshner, and James Christopher Pena, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Falcone and Sinda Castillo.

The family especially thanks the caregivers of Providence Hospice, Dr. William B. Coleman, Kim Falcone, Sinda Castillo, and all her family and friends for their loving support during her illness.
