Delfino (Sam) Samaniego , 82, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at his residence.
SERVICES AND VISITATION
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17 at OakCrest Funeral Home with Msgr. Mark Deering officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Waco Memorial Park.
The rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday, May 16, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by visitation with his family. A memorial video of his life will be shown during the visitation.
HIS LIFE STORY
Delfino was born August 2, 1925 in Bruceville-Eddy to Enrique and Hilaria (Lillie) Galvan. He served in the Army in both WWII and Korea and was awarded a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He married Jean Woodlock on June 10, 1952 in Waco.
He was a retired Nursing Assistant at the Waco Veterans Administration Hospital with 26 years of service.
He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. Whenever he could, he enjoyed fishing. His children have great memories of their childhood with their dad, and his family will miss him dearly. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters.
HIS SURVIVING FAMILY
He is survived by his wife, Jean; sons, Del Samaniego Jr. and David Samaniego, both of Waco; daughters, Linda Bates and husband, David of Humble, Frances Gerick and husband, Robert of Riesel, Eva McDonald of Waco, and Lillie Ellis of Midland; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
